Fleet Maintenance and Repair Division Head
David A. Bramble, Inc. is Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving. The Company owns several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.
Job Description
Onsite Supervisor of an equipment maintenance shop, located in Chestertown, MD and offsite supervisor to a maintenance shop in Eden, MD. Both shops are responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the equipment fleet of a heavy/highway construction company, both onsite at the shops and at the Company’s projects located throughout Delmarva.
This role Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Oversee the maintenance, repair, overhaul and/or rebuilding of dump trucks, tractors, bulldozers, loaders, asphalt pavers, rollers, excavators, pumps, cranes, etc. in support of the Company’s construction and manufacturing activities.

Direct Supervision of the Chestertown Shop mechanics and supporting staff, including field service for projects managed from the Chestertown Office. Provide a supporting role for the Eden Shop Superintendent and his staff. Both shop staffs are direct reports to this position.

Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.

Ensure proper OSHA and MOSH regulations are followed to maintain and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Manage the team of mechanics and staff, including hiring and dismissal.

Evaluate and verify employee performance by reviewing completed work assignments and work techniques.

Identify staff development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained.

Ensure a positive work culture in the shop, and promote the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Oversee the purchases of tools, parts, materials, supplies, etc. used in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.

Work with the Company’s field construction crews to manage equipment breakdowns and the ordering of parts and supplies.

Work in concert with the Company’s Equipment and Fleet Manager to coordinate equipment moves from the company’s various locations.

Oversee the receipt and checking of new vehicles and equipment for compliance with specifications.

Diagnose difficult problems and recommend repairs.

Inspect, test, and adjust equipment.

Work with vendors and suppliers, including equipment dealers.

Track all repairs for internal costing.

Manage staffing needs so that equipment repairs can be handled 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or as the work dictates.

Administer and enforce all company policies.

May need to occasionally perform any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirements. Perform related work as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Five to ten years of experience working with all types of trucks and heavy equipment.

Knowledge of computer and software diagnostics for all modern equipment in the Company’s fleet. Knowledge and experience with parts inventory management software and techniques.

Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair of heavy equipment.

Considerable knowledge of body and frame construction.

Ability to read diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and reference manuals.

Ability to instruct and supervise the disassembly and assembly of engines and parts.

Ability to monitor and evaluate problems and organizational performance in order to assess efficiency and effectiveness.

Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.

Must have a valid drivers license.

Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
Physical Requirements
The job duties may require an employee to lift and/or move heavy objects. The job duties may require an employee to traverse rough terrain.
Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
