Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic

MAIN FUNCTION:              Perform maintenance and repair on Heavy Trucks and Equipment as related to the construction field.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Review work orders with supervisor.

  • Have a general knowledge of equipment maintenance and be able to perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-up.

  • Have a general knowledge of hydraulics and make appropriate repairs and/or maintenance.

    • Tear down, repair and re-build faulty assemblies.

  • Complete preventive maintenance reports on equipment/trucks by inspecting belts, hoses, steering system, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings and other potentially troublesome areas.

  • Have the knowledge and ability to test drive vehicles and test components and systems using equipment such as engine analyzers, compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices.

  • Disassemble units and inspect for parts wear, using micrometers calipers and gauges.

  • Work independently and in a timely manner.

  • Must have your own tools.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Maintain Cleanliness of work area.

  • Perform other duties as instructed by supervisor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:         Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all types of weather.  Candidates may be given a medical examination to determine physical ability to perform the job. 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:              

  • 1 to 5-years of experience preferred.

  • Current CDL license is preferred, or willingness to achieve a CDL license.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be able to perform physical labor indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. 

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Body Positioning:

    • Bending or Twisting.

    • Kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling

    • Standing and walking

    • Climbing

    • Using your hands to handle, control, or fell objects tools or controls.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. 

  • Random drug testing is performed monthly.
