Asphalt Field Sample Technician

 

About Us:

We are a Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving with several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.

 

About the Role:

Our Asphalt Field Sample Technician are responsible for taking samples of Hot Mix Asphalt in the field.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect samples of Hot Mix Asphalt using a core drill

• Test asphalt while it is being placed and help make recommendations for ensuring target parameters are met

• Work in the Hot Mix Plant Laboratory when field testing is not required

• Complete testing reports for the Maryland State Highway Administration

• Communicate test results to superiors

Requirements:

• Pass a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random monthly drug tests.

 

Preferred Experience & Education:

• Relevant job experience 

 

Physical Requirements:

• Must work in all kinds of weather; job includes indoor and outdoor work; long hours and occasional weekends required.

• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs on a daily basis.

 

Working Environment:

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat

• Exposure to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typically associated with construction projects

• Proximity to heavy equipment and moving machinery

• Potential exposure to various substances found on construction sites or equipment shops, such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and asphalt

• Working conditions include restricted movement, intense noise, extreme temperatures, a dirty environment, and possible night work

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
