Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic

About Us:

We are a Heavy/Highway General Contractor based in Chestertown Maryland. The Company owns and maintains a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment used in the construction of utilities (sewer, water, storm drain), earthmoving, and asphalt paving with several gravel pits and two asphalt plants.

 

About the Role:

The Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic will perform maintenance and repair on Heavy Trucks and Equipment as related to the construction field.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review work orders with the supervisor

  • Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies

  • Complete preventive maintenance reports on equipment/trucks by inspecting belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas

  • Test drive vehicles and test components and systems using equipment such as engine analyzers, compression gauges and computerized diagnostic devices

  • Disassemble units and inspect for parts wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges

  •  Maintain Cleanliness of the work area

  • Perform other duties as instructed by the supervisor

 

Requirements:

  • Have a general knowledge of equipment maintenance and be able to perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-up.

  • Have a general knowledge of hydraulics and make appropriate repairs and/or maintenance.

  • Work independently and in a timely manner

  • Must have your own tools

  • Have a valid Driver’s License

  • Pass a pre-employment drug test

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Current CDL license is preferred, or willingness to achieve a CDL license

  • 1 to 5 years of related experience preferred but not necessary

 

Education Requirements:

  • Relevant job experience

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform physical labor indoors and outdoors in all types of weather

  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

  • Body Positioning:

    • Bending or Twisting.

    • Kneeling, crouching, stooping, or crawling

    • Standing and walking

    • Climbing

  • Using your hands to handle, control, or fill objects, tools or controls

 

 Additional Requirements & Information:

  • Random drug testing is performed monthly

  • Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all types of weather

  • Candidates may be given a medical examination to determine physical ability to perform the job

 

Job Type: 

Full-time, Monday to Friday
